Code of Conduct
~• DPS Code of Conduct •~
Note: These are not exclusive to the normal course of game play. The rules extend to behavior on the forums as well. GUILD RULES 1) Don't antagonize people. This includes but is not limited to: name-calling, /spit or /fart etc after duels/PvP (this includes Alliance), spamming trade windows et al. If you've just been corpse-camped for 2 hours by someone and they've been doing it to you, there's some leeway here but at no point do you do it first and never more than you received it. Not even half as much. Machismo has no place here. 2) Don't cause drama. Often closely related to 1), remember, your actions reflect upon the guild and frequently the offender isn't the one people complain to. The issue gets taken to the boards, into their guild chat, or to our officers, who will rarely have any of the story or at best half of it. Damage control and reputation management aren't easy (harder than epic Kodo for Undead); try not to make things more difficult than the natural flow of things dictates already. 3) Don't tell/post the exact size of our guild, our recruiting process/status, key status, goals unless authorized to do so. There's nothing to be gained by this and more likely than not, we're giving other people incentive to do more faster or possibly affirming their belief that they're "better". 4) Don't tell/post opinions of the officers with certainty. If anyone wants to know, they can talk to an officer. And if your information isn't entirely accurate then more harm than good can come of the situation. 5) Don't ninja-loot. This is obvious but deserves to be listed. Tread lightly when you're not sure. Clarify rules up front. Other guilds have gotten the ninja-looter tag associated with all members after only 2 instances before. Just be careful. 6) Don't disclose our vent information unless authorized to do so by the officers or Jinxingscamp. 7) We are not supposed to be mocking others or bragging in general channels or linking items in general chat. 8) No one is supposed to know we did something before we finish it. Why do people outside the guild know to ask what loot drops? This is very annoying and should be stopped.
RAID RULES 1) Raid invites start 5 min prior to the listed raid time. You should be online, on your main, ready to go. If it has been stated what instance we are doing, you should be there. If you do not know which instance we are doing, be in Shattrath, ready to head out to wherever. The fact that each raid instance has a summoning stone does not mean you can keep doing arenas/bg's/whatever. If you are not available for an invite at the listed raid start, do not be surprised if you are not invited. If it is a common occurrence, do not be surprised if you are rarely invited. 2) If you're going to go AFK, say something to the raid and say something to the raid leader. Wait for a response. Don't go AFK during a pull. If you don't, don't be surprised if you're removed from the raid or not invited to the next one. Note that emergencies occur from time to time. In such a case, it doesn't really matter if you say something in raid or not. Medical problems/kitchen fires/cars through the first floor of your house... are all far more important than a WoW raid. Just keep in mind that people will be kind of irritated when you come back, given that they don't know where you went. 3) If you don't know an area or a fight, ask an experienced person in your class who knows your job what you need to do. We spend time asking people before each big fight if they know what their job is, that's your special time to ask. Don't click the "Ready" button unless you really are ready. If you don't, don't be surprised if you're removed from the raid or not invited to the next one. 4) Follow directions on Vent and in /raid... and be in the same Vent channel as everyone else when we're raiding. Spam in your chat window is no excuse; make a new one with only guild, yell, raid, and say if you have to, just follow instructions. If you don't, don't be surprised if you're removed from the raid or not invited to the next one. 5) DPS is not a large guild. Large guilds have to rotate raiders constantly and everyone gets less raid time. On that note, you should be online for raids whenever possible. If you can't be online, you need to post on the forums about it. Even if you tell an officer beforehand, post. Some of us have very poor memories, particularly when trying to remember the schedules of 40ish people. Raiding 5 nights a week can be a bit intense. If you're feeling a bit burnt out and want to chill for a week, that's cool, but talk to an officer beforehand and post about it so that we know. IMPORTANT If you're putting in an application, then we will assume that you have read these rules and agreed to them. Consider it our EULA. Our guild/raid rules are simple and are based on mutual respect, common courtesy and a touch of humility. Failing to abide by these simple rules will have significant repercussions. Repeated failure to abide by these rules will result in gremoval. We hate to sound authoritarian, but these rules really are all about courtesy and politeness. If you can't handle that, then this really isn't the guild for you.
